Cork bark branches bring height and climbing structure to any setup. The gnarled, natural shapes work as perches, bridges, and anchor points for vines or mounted plants. They are light enough to position easily, tough enough to last in a humid enclosure, and safe for bioactive tanks. Every branch is hand picked, so no two are quite the same, and cork bark branches are sold by weight so you can build out as much structure as your space allows.
Branches are the narrow, irregular sections — the parts of the tree that keep their taper and their twists. They exist to add vertical structure. Arboreal geckos, small snakes and climbing lizards use them to move through the upper half of an enclosure, which is space most setups waste entirely.
Because cork is light, a branch can be siliconed or screwed to a background without any of the anchoring a comparable piece of hardwood would need. It will not sink, warp or leach tannins into standing water, which is why it is used in paludariums as often as in dry setups.
Branches are also the shape orchid growers ask for most after flats — a mounted plant on a length of cork branch looks like it grew there, and the irregular surface gives roots somewhere to grip.
Where this cork comes from
Every piece we sell is virgin cork bark, hand harvested from cork oak forests in Portugal and graded at our warehouse in Madison, Florida. Harvesting does not fell the tree — the bark is stripped on a cycle and grows back, which is why cork oak forests are among the few working landscapes that get healthier the longer they are worked.
The bark is heat treated before it ships and contains no chemical additives. It is naturally resistant to mould and rot, which is what makes it usable in humid and bioactive enclosures where most woods break down, and it is safe for reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, birds and small mammals.
