Cork bark rounds are hollow tubes of natural cork that turn into instant hides, tunnels, and climbing features. Reptiles, snakes, and inverts love crawling through them, and orchid growers use the curve to mount plants that like to wrap around a surface. They are lightweight, rot resistant, and safe for humid bioactive enclosures. Each round is hand selected for a usable shape, and cork bark rounds are sold by weight so you can order the right amount for your setup.
Rounds are whole sections of bark that kept their tube shape when they came off the tree, so they arrive as ready-made hides and tunnels with no assembly. This is the shape most reptile keepers start with: a snake will use a round as a hide the day it goes in the enclosure, and arboreal species will climb the outside of a larger one without being taught.
Ball pythons and corn snakes are the usual customers, but rounds are equally at home in dart frog and tree frog vivariums, where the hollow interior stays humid and dark while the outside dries between mistings.
Diameter is the thing to get right. A snake wants a hide it can just fit through and feel contact on all sides — too generous and it will be ignored. If you are buying for an animal that is still growing, it is normally cheaper to buy two sizes now than to replace one later.
Where this cork comes from
Every piece we sell is virgin cork bark, hand harvested from cork oak forests in Portugal and graded at our warehouse in Madison, Florida. Harvesting does not fell the tree — the bark is stripped on a cycle and grows back, which is why cork oak forests are among the few working landscapes that get healthier the longer they are worked.
The bark is heat treated before it ships and contains no chemical additives. It is naturally resistant to mould and rot, which is what makes it usable in humid and bioactive enclosures where most woods break down, and it is safe for reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, birds and small mammals.
